Buying a ping pong table? Here's what to look for.
Purpose
Determine the primary purpose of the ping pong table. Are you buying it for casual family play, recreational use with friends, or serious training and competition? All of our Tiger PingPong tables are professional grade, which is great for the recreational or elite player.
Space
Assess the available space where you intend to place the table. Measure the dimensions to ensure the table fits comfortably and allows players to move freely. A standard-sized ping pong table measures 9' long by 5' wide and 2.5' high. We recommend a minimum of 5' behind each end of the table and 3' to each side for enough room for playing space. The minimum room size of your table tennis room should be at least 19' long by 11' wide.
Indoor vs. Outdoor
Decide whether you need an indoor or outdoor ping pong table. Outdoor tables are typically more durable and weather-resistant, suitable for backyard or patio use. Most outdoor ping pong tables are suitable for indoor play, too. However, with the extra durability, outdoor tables tend to cost more to purchase.
Quality and Durability
Invest in a high-quality table that offers durability and stability. Look for sturdy construction, quality materials (such as MDF or aluminum composite tops), and reliable support structures.
Playing Surface
Consider the thickness and quality of the playing surface. Thicker surfaces provide a better bounce and gameplay experience, while smoother surfaces offer more consistent ball response. You'll likely want both.
Folding Mechanism
If space is limited, opt for a table with a folding mechanism for easy storage and mobility.
Safety Features
Ensure the table includes safety features such as locking mechanisms to prevent accidental collapses and adjustable feet for stability on uneven surfaces.
Brand and Reputation
Research reputable brands known for producing high-quality ping pong tables. Read customer reviews and testimonials to gauge the table's performance and durability.
Accessories
Consider whether the table has accessories like paddles, balls, net sets, and covers. Some tables may include these items as part of a package deal.
Budget
Establish a budget range based on your preferences and requirements. While higher-end tables may offer superior quality and features, budget-friendly options are also available for casual players.
Warranty and Customer Support
Check the warranty coverage and terms provided by the manufacturer. Opt for tables with comprehensive warranties and reliable customer support to address issues or concerns.
Personal Preferences
Factor in personal preferences such as table colour, design, and aesthetics to ensure that the table complements your space and reflects your style.
